Powder Blue and Ivory Crepe at Chateau Trieux, Nouvelle-Aquitaine
A powder-blue and ivory editorial at Chateau Trieux near Bordeaux, with Melody and Roman, florals by Jenny Fairbanks. 49 photos by Michael Mann.
Chateau Trieux became the canvas for a powder-blue, ivory, and stone editorial directed by Michael Mann, a destination wedding photographer working across south-west France. The 16th-century chateau near Villeneuve-sur-Lot offered twin towers, sweeping grounds, and weathered limestone walls. The getting-ready suite at Chateau Trieux, with its original stone fireplace and tall shuttered windows, held the morning's warmth. Melody moved through the ritual of dress, veil, and final mirror check with a focus that shifted into a full, unguarded smile when her reflection came together. The gown, a fluid ivory crepe with a low open back, skimmed the floor without fuss.

Roman Fedorchenko's expression when Melody appeared at the stone archway needed no styling. Tall white taper candles in iron candelabras and low arrangements of white anemones and blue thistle dressed the interior salon. Vows were spoken quietly, almost privately, that specific hush that only happens when two people forget there is an audience around them.

In the courtyard, Melody's ivory crepe gown almost glowed against the roughcast stone wall. Michael Mann shot in flat light, capturing the way the matte fabric absorbed rather than reflected it. A trailing bouquet of white garden roses, pale blue agapanthus, and silvered astrantia fell from her hands, and the quietest frames of the day became the most certain.

In the last of the afternoon light, Michael Mann took the couple into the grounds. Long shadows, the smell of earth, and Roman's hand at the small of Melody's back. The ivory gown against tawny grass, the chateau's silhouette behind them. These portraits have the quality of memory already, soft at the edges and specific at the centre.

As dinner moved into its later hours, the candlelight shifted everything warmer. The cake, three tiers in white buttercream with pressed blue viola flowers, stood on a slab of pale limestone. Roman caught Melody's eye across the room and something passed between them that made the people nearest them smile. Dancing followed on the flagstone terrace, heels abandoned.

Our Fabulous Things and Jenny Fairbanks built the table design in a precise tonal range: white linen with a rough woven texture, powder-blue tapered candles, and low arrangements of white cosmos, steel-blue sea holly, and trailing silver dusty miller. Antique pewter flatware sat alongside contemporary white ceramic. Navy velvet ribbon tied the menus, and Artful September's invitation suite in deep navy with gold-leaf script echoed the colour story exactly.

Standing behind iron gates at the end of a sweeping gravel drive, Chateau Trieux holds its history lightly. Stone archways frame views across the private grounds, and the courtyard carries the scent of damp moss and old wood. Jenny Fairbanks wove dusty blue delphinium and silver brunia into arrangements that felt grown rather than designed. The twin towers anchor every wide shot.
