The Venue History
17th century (origins 14th century) · Fortified residence with central square courtyard, four corner towers, and high central tower
Originally called Château du Soulat, the property began as a 14th-century Monastery and Chapel, remnants of which are still visible in the present-day layout. It became a 17th-century fortified residence and was purchased by the Bonapartist family in the 19th century, who transformed it extensively by creating the central square courtyard, four corner towers, and high central tower. In the mid-20th century it became part of the French National Stud ('Haras Nationaux') until 1996, and 13 original stables remain intact. The current owners bought the property in 2007 and undertook two years of renovation and restoration.
