The Venue History
15th century · neo-Gothic and neo-Renaissance with medieval features
Originally owned by Jean Jousserand, squire and lord of Laire, the property remained in his family's possession until the mid-17th century, passing through the hands of the Touchimbert and Lameth families. In 1872, Louise Marie Stéphanie, a descendant of the Prévost de Touchimbert family, married the Marquis de Lameth. The two gentlemen started the expansion of the castle from 1870 to 1906, financed by the sale of a rum distillery in Martinique. The château showcases a mesmerizing blend of neo-Gothic and neo-Renaissance architecture, reminiscent of Viollet-le-Duc's style.
