Monument Historique (classified historic monument)

Founded in 1190 at the foot of a miraculous spring known as 'la fontaine qui guérit' (the healing fountain), the abbey was attached to the Cistercian order in 1207 and completed in 1253. Despite the upheavals of the 1789 Revolution, the remaining buildings represent one of the finest examples of early 13th-century Anglo-Norman Gothic architecture, embodying Cistercian austerity and purity.
