Jessica dressed in rooms that smelled faintly of stone and beeswax, her Alena Leena gown, an embroidered A-line with delicate surface detailing, laid out on a carved daybed before she stepped into it. Her bridesmaids moved around her in chambray blue, the colour chosen to echo the cornflowers that would line the ceremony aisle later that morning. The laughter in those rooms was easy, unhurried.

Under a floral arch constructed by ELK Creations, dahlias in canary yellow, hydrangeas in powder blue, and trailing stems of nigella and chamomile, Jessica and Galin exchanged vows on the chateau lawn while a single guitarist played softly from one side. The aisle was lined with low arrangements in mismatched glass vessels. When Jessica arrived, there was a collective intake of breath from the guests.

Jessica photographed alone in the olive grove is one of those images you return to. Pattie Fellowes caught her mid-step between two ancient trees, the Alena Leena gown lifting slightly in a warm breeze, its embroidered hem skimming the dry grass. Filtered light through olive branches threw shifting patterns across the fabric, revealing the intricacy of the needlework.

The portrait session along the cellar paths and vineyard rows gave Pattie Fellowes, an acclaimed wedding photographer in the South of France the material she needed to tell the full story. Jessica’s gown moved well in the open fields, the embroidered detailing visible in the low evening light. Galin wore his linen suit with the jacket eventually over one shoulder, walking between vine rows with ease.

Guests moved to the shaded terrace, glasses of estate rose and Chateau Canet white already waiting on linen-covered tables. La Table d’Emilie served passing boards of local charcuterie, fig tapenade, and Comte alongside Provencal olive oil dips. The plane tree canopy filtered the light into something almost golden.

Long tables filled the courtyard terrace as dusk arrived and the stone walls began to glow amber. La Table d’Emilie served a seated dinner built around the ingredients of the Languedoc: slow-roasted lamb, market vegetables, and a cheese course that arrived on a board the length of the table. The speeches ran long in the best possible way. As the music started, Galin pulled Jessica onto the dance floor before the first song had properly begun.

Rubijoy Weddings translated the sky-blue-and-butter-yellow palette into a table design that felt grown rather than assembled. Low centrepieces in rough clay vessels held early dahlias, rudbeckias, and stems of cornflower alongside trails of olive branch cut fresh from the estate. Place cards were written on seeded paper in cobalt ink, and the menu listed every local producer.

From the gravel drive to the shaded terrace, Chateau Canet structured the day without ever imposing on it. Vine rows stretched to the horizon in every direction, the growth a vivid acid green against the pale Languedoc sky. Stone archways framed each transition, from courtyard to lawn, from lawn to cellar path, so the day moved in chapters rather than all at once.
