Getting Ready

A bridal portrait taken outdoors with the ocean as a backdrop, shot on an overcast day with soft, muted light. The bride wears a fitted white long-sleeve gown with an off-the-shoulder neckline and a long cathedral-length veil draped over one shoulder, her hair styled in an updo. She holds a compact bouquet of white flowers, likely hydrangeas and baby's breath, and looks downward with a calm expression. The composition is a medium portrait shot with the pale turquoise-green sea filling the background.
A getting-ready moment captured in a close-up portrait shot outdoors, showing the back of a bride's ivory long-sleeve wedding dress with a row of fabric-covered buttons running down the spine. A second person, wearing a periwinkle blue outfit and gold chain bracelet with a green gemstone ring, is fastening the buttons at the lower back. The composition is tightly framed on the hands and dress detail, with a softly blurred green foliage background.
A close-up detail diptych of the groom's attire during the getting-ready or portrait phase. The left panel shows the interior lining of a navy blue Hugo Boss suit jacket, which features a geometric medallion print in navy, dusty rose, and cream tones, held open to reveal the branded label. The right panel shows the groom's wrist wearing a thin round-faced watch with a rose gold case and white dial, paired with the cuffed sleeve of a white dress shirt beneath the navy jacket. Both shots are tight detail/close-up compositions shot outdoors with a soft, blurred green background.
A getting-ready moment captured indoors, showing the bride laughing with her hands raised near her face, appearing to react to an emotional or joyful moment. She is wearing a blue floral robe with orange and white flower print, and a diamond engagement ring is visible on her left hand. Her hair is partially pinned up. The shot is a close-up portrait with a soft, warm background that is blurred out of focus.

The morning began in one of Saint-Jean-de-Luz's grand Basque houses, where whitewashed walls and red shutters set a distinctly regional tone. Agathe slipped into her custom Laure de Vitton gown, its classic silhouette and modern detail perfectly suited to the coastal setting. Matthias Toth captured the final preparations with a natural, documentary touch.

Ceremony

A bride and groom stand hand-in-hand at the altar during a religious ceremony inside an ornate historic chapel with gilded baroque woodwork and carved altarpiece. The bride wears a white gown with a long cathedral-length veil, and the groom is dressed in a navy blue suit. Two large floral arrangements in wicker baskets flank the altar steps, composed of white hydrangeas and green foliage. The shot is taken from behind the couple in a wide, symmetrical composition, with wooden pews and wrought-iron kneelers visible in the foreground.
A couple stands at the altar during an indoor religious ceremony inside an ornate church with gilded baroque decor and painted panels visible in the background. The bride turns slightly toward the camera with a smile while holding the groom's hand; she wears a long-sleeved ivory gown with a low back, a cathedral-length veil, and a small white floral hair accessory. The groom, seen from behind, wears a navy blue suit. The composition is a medium shot taken from slightly behind and to the side of the couple, emphasizing their joined hands and the richly decorated church interior.
A wedding ceremony is taking place inside a historic French church featuring an ornate gilded altar, vaulted ceiling with fan tracery, and wooden upper gallery balconies running along both sides of the nave. The couple and officiant stand at the altar, surrounded by white and green floral arrangements, while a large congregation of approximately 80–100 guests fills the wooden pews. The interior architecture includes gold baroque altarpiece detailing, painted ceiling panels, and carved wooden furnishings. The shot is taken from the rear of the nave as a wide-angle view looking toward the altar, capturing the full length of the ceremony space. Potential venue feature image.

The ceremony took place in the Church of Ciboure, set within the traditional wooden galleries that line the Basque interior. Vows echoed through the nave as family and friends looked on from carved balconies overhead. The architectural character of the church, with its painted ceiling and dark wood, gave the service a sense of deep-rooted regional tradition.

Bridal Portraits

A couple shares a kiss during outdoor wedding portraits on a rocky coastal clifftop, with crashing waves and a headland visible in the background. The groom wears a navy blue suit with black dress shoes and a patterned tie, while the bride wears a long-sleeve, off-the-shoulder white fitted gown and holds a small bouquet of baby's breath. A white flower is tucked into the bride's updo hairstyle. The shot is a full-length portrait with a natural, relaxed coastal setting and an overcast sky, giving the image a muted, moody color palette consistent with a boho-coastal styling aesthetic.

The bride wears a long-sleeved, fitted ivory crepe gown with a cathedral-length train and a small white floral hair accessory, paired with a sheer veil. The groom wears a navy blue suit with a small boutonniere. The shot is a full-length portrait taken at mid-distance, capturing both figures and the scenic waterfront backdrop behind them.
A couple portrait taken outdoors on a rocky coastal clifftop, with waves crashing dramatically behind them. The groom wears a navy blue suit with a patterned tie, and the bride wears an off-the-shoulder ivory fitted gown with a long train and a short white veil; she holds a small round bouquet of white baby's breath. The two face each other and smile, embracing lightly. The setting appears to be the Basque coastline near Biarritz, with a white villa visible on the cliffside in the background. The composition is a full-length portrait shot with a slightly overcast, moody atmosphere.
A couple portrait taken outdoors on a flat coastal rock ledge overlooking a churning turquoise sea, with dramatic layered cliffs and a small white building visible in the background. The bride wears a long-sleeve, minimalist white gown with a relaxed silhouette and black-tipped shoes, with a floral hair accessory, and carries a compact white bouquet that appears to include white blooms and baby's breath. The groom wears a navy blue suit with a patterned tie and black oxford shoes. The two face each other and hold hands, smiling, in a full-length couple portrait with a wide coastal backdrop.

Matthias Toth Photography framed Agathe against the lush green gardens near the church, soft foliage creating a natural veil around her custom Laure de Vitton gown. The Basque Country light fell warmly across her features as she paused along stone pathways and beneath arched doorways. The bridal party and couple portraits extended across windswept cliffside paths, drawing on the dramatic Atlantic coastline.

Flat Lays

Close-up detail shot of a bride's hands holding a all-white baby's breath bouquet with green stems, wearing a statement diamond cluster engagement ring with a starburst or floral setting in a silver-toned metal. The bride is dressed in a white gown, visible at the edges of the frame. The bouquet fills the upper portion of the image, slightly out of focus, drawing attention to the ring as the focal point. The overall styling is minimal and monochromatic, with the all-white baby's breath bouquet complementing the simple bridal look.
Close-up detail shot of a bride holding a rounded bridal bouquet composed of white hydrangeas surrounded by baby's breath, photographed against a coastal backdrop with turquoise-green water visible in the background. The bride is wearing a long-sleeved white satin dress with a clean, minimalist silhouette. The bouquet has a compact, dome-shaped arrangement with the baby's breath forming a delicate frilled border around the central hydrangea blooms. The overall styling is clean and minimal, with an all-white floral palette.
Wide shot of a fully set wedding reception inside a clear-sided white marquee tent with a peaked roof, showing three long banquet-style tables arranged in parallel rows with white linen tablecloths and natural wood folding chairs. The decor palette is white and green, with low centerpieces of greenery and white florals spaced along each table, accompanied by glassware, white napkins, and wine bottles. String lights are strung across the interior roofline, adding warm overhead lighting. The light-wood flooring and transparent marquee walls allow natural daylight to fill the space, giving it a clean, airy, modern-rustic aesthetic.
A diptych of two close-up detail shots showcasing the same engagement or wedding ring — a round diamond or crystal center stone surrounded by a halo of smaller stones in a starburst or floral setting on a silver-toned band. The left image shows the ring on a woman's hand resting on a blue floral-patterned fabric garment with orange and cream botanical motifs. The right image shows the ring against a sheer white fabric, likely a bridal veil or wedding dress. Both shots are softly lit with a light, airy exposure style.

Detail shots revealed the Basque-inspired character of the celebration, from handcrafted stationery and esparto accessories to the bride's custom veil and jewellery. Floral arrangements in soft whites and greens reflected the natural palette of the coastline. Each flat lay captured the careful balance between tradition and contemporary style that defined the day.

More from the Day

Wide landscape shot taken from a clifftop overlooking a coastal bay under an overcast sky. No people, wedding couple, or wedding-related decor are visible in this image. The scene shows a small coastal town in the distance, a jetty or pier extending into the water, and cliffs in the foreground. This appears to be a location/venue establishing shot rather than a wedding photograph with subjects.
A two-image composite showing a dark navy blue Porsche 911 (993 generation) parked on a street in front of a white stone building with orange shutters and exterior steps, used as a wedding car. The left panel is a wide shot capturing the full vehicle from a front three-quarter angle, while the right panel is a close-up detail shot of the Porsche crest badge on the hood, showing the gold, red, and black enamel emblem. Both images are shot in a warm, film-style color tone. No people are visible; the focus is entirely on the vehicle as a styled wedding detail.
A group portrait of the groom and five groomsmen standing together on a sandy beach, posing casually and laughing. All six men wear navy or dark suits with patterned ties in shades of blue and grey, and small white floral boutonnieres; notably, two of the men on the right are wearing light blue espadrilles instead of dress shoes. The setting is an overcast beach with the ocean visible in the background. The shot is a full-length wide portrait with a relaxed, candid feel.
This image does not appear to be a wedding photograph. It is a wide aerial or elevated landscape shot of a beach with pale sand, gentle surf with soft green-tinted waves, and an overcast grey sky. Several small figures are visible on the shoreline but no wedding activity, couple, bridal party, or wedding-related decor is present. The image is not suitable for a wedding content library as it contains no identifiable wedding elements.
