Blush Florals and Live Music at Domaine le Castelet, Occitanie

Abbie and Tariq's multi-day wedding at Domaine le Castelet near Carcassonne, with Pronovias bridal and florals by Groseilles et Petits Pois. By Lizzie Mcneil.

By Elena Moretti | Published 21 July 2024

Abbie and Tariq, medical school sweethearts since 2010, brought their closest people to Domaine le Castelet, a manoir-style wedding estate near Carcassonne for several days of unhurried celebration. Ibrahim's original ceremony compositions and a first dance to Blake Shelton gave the day a deeply personal soundtrack. Getting Ready

A black-and-white close-up detail shot taken during the getting-ready portion of a wedding day, showing a bride seated and wearing a white robe with broderie anglaise lace cuffs and a tied waist sash. The focus is drawn to her wrist, where a delicate thin chain bracelet with a small charm is displayed. Both hands are visible in the frame, with the left hand extended toward the camera. The high-contrast lighting creates deep shadows against a dark background, emphasizing the texture of the lace sleeve and the fine detail of the bracelet.

The morning had a handmade quality that set the tone for everything that followed. Flowers, hair, and makeup were all handled by close friends, turning the preparation into its own quiet celebration. Abbie wore her hair pinned loose with a few strands left free, and the palette was already present in the room: blush, ivory, the muted green of eucalyptus sprigs laid across a linen-covered table.

Ceremony

An outdoor wedding ceremony taking place beneath large shade trees, with the couple exchanging vows while facing each other and holding hands. The bride wears an ivory ballgown with a lace appliqué bodice featuring off-shoulder floral lace detailing and a full tulle skirt, paired with a cathedral-length veil; she has long blonde wavy hair. The groom wears a light grey suit with tan leather shoes. An officiant stands to the right holding a blue binder, also dressed in a light grey suit. Seated guests are visible in the background, with several wearing teal and blue outfits. The overall styling is relaxed and romantic with a garden-boho aesthetic. Medium-distance portrait shot capturing all three standing figures from head to toe.

Ibrahim's original compositions drifted across the lawn as the ceremony began, transforming the processional into something singular and personal. The vows took place outdoors, with the Occitanie countryside spreading behind the couple and guests seated in the warm shade. Groseilles et Petits Pois had arranged blush roses, white ranunculus, and eucalyptus near the ceremony space. Abbie laughed mid-vow at something only Tariq could hear, and it was the most honest moment of the day.

Couple Portraits

Couple kissing at golden hour, bride with blush peony bouquet in lace applique gown, groom in sand suit
A couple shares a kiss during an outdoor couple portrait on the gravel terrace of a French château, with warm golden-hour sunlight casting a soft lens flare across the scene. The bride wears a white ballgown with lace detailing and a long train, while the groom is dressed in a light grey suit. The terrace is set with wooden bistro tables, white wrought-iron chairs, darker metal café chairs, and two large white market umbrellas with wooden frames, suggesting a cocktail hour setup. The château façade features sage green shutters and ornate stone detailing, visible to the right of the frame in this wide environmental portrait. Potential venue feature image.
A couple walks hand-in-hand through a garden during what appears to be a pre-wedding or wedding weekend casual event. Both are photographed from behind in a medium full-body shot. The woman wears a white tiered ruffle maxi dress, light blue sandals, and a wide-brim white sun hat with a black band embroidered with the word 'bride' in script. The man wears a white linen shirt, pink shorts, flip flops, and a red and yellow tropical flower lei around his neck. The outdoor garden setting features vibrant pink rose bushes, cypress trees, and a gravel path visible to the left, suggesting a French estate or château property.
A couple portrait taken outdoors on a gravel path beside a stone building, shot during golden hour with warm backlit sun flare. The groom walks slightly ahead, smiling, wearing a light beige linen suit with a white and greenery boutonniere. The bride follows, looking downward with a soft smile, wearing an off-the-shoulder ivory ball gown with floral lace appliqué detailing on the bodice and a full tulle skirt; her blonde wavy hair is worn half-up. The two are holding hands mid-stride. The overall styling aesthetic is romantic boho with a relaxed, natural feel. Medium-distance portrait shot with a shallow depth of field.

On the Domaine grounds, where open lawns give way to long countryside views, Tariq turned and what Lizzie Mcneil captured was less a reaction and more a recognition of fourteen years of history. Later, as the evening light softened the estate's edges, the pair walked among limestone walls and terrace lights, completely at ease. The portrait that will likely go on the wall is the one where neither of them is looking at the camera.

Reception

Dinner unfolded at long outdoor tables as the Occitanie sky turned from blue to rose to ink. Party in France handled catering, and local Languedoc wine flowed alongside the accumulated warmth of a multi-day weekend. During cocktail hour, Groseilles et Petits Pois had arranged smaller companion pieces throughout the outdoor space in blush and ivory. Abbie and Tariq took their first dance to Blake Shelton's I'll Name the Dogs, and the room understood immediately why they had chosen it.

Design and Details

Place setting with eucalyptus menu card, calligraphy name card, gold-rim plate, and green garland centerpiece
A close-up detail shot of an outdoor wedding reception table set for a meal in natural daylight. The wooden farm-style table is dressed with a lush eucalyptus and white rose garland running down the center, accompanied by small glass tealight holders and individual honey jar favors. Place settings include dusty blue folded napkins, silver cutlery, clear wine and water glasses, and printed menus or place cards tied with twine. The decor palette combines warm wood tones with dusty blue and greenery, reflecting a relaxed garden or rustic-natural styling.

Groseilles et Petits Pois worked the floral arrangements in blush, white, and eucalyptus green throughout the reception space, with textural contrast from dried grasses and soft-petalled garden roses. Long tables were set simply, the kind of design that trusts the light and the company to do the work. Infine Patisserie's cake held the same neutral palette. Abbie's Pronovias gown, laid flat against a textured surface, told the story before the first guest sat down.

Venue

Continental breakfast on antique table in sage-walled chateau salon with marble fireplace and oil paintings

Domaine le Castelet is a manoir-style estate with proportions that make you want to slow down. Open lawns roll out from the main house, limestone buildings hold the afternoon warmth long into the evening, and the pool sits at the edge of it all like an afterthought that turns out to be the best part. The venue's understated quality meant nothing felt forced. It simply provided the setting, and the people filled it.
