Carol and Richard brought Chinese heritage and American warmth to a terraced hilltop wedding venue in Gordes, Provence, layering white, taupe, and lilac against centuries-old stone. Amelie of Despinoy Wedding orchestrated the flow from garden ceremony to candlelit terrace dinner, while Stepan Vrzala traced every transition across the sun-drenched wedding landscapes of Provence.
Getting Ready

Carol slipped into a long-sleeve lace gown with a tulle train while her six bridesmaids popped champagne and staged a pillow fight on the hotel bed. Paris Makeup Artist Jane pinned soft waves and a natural complexion that held through the evening. The white satin pyjama set with feather trim set a playful tone before the group swapped sunglasses for bouquets and made their way downstairs.
Ceremony

Rows of bentwood crossback chairs with white linen cushions lined a manicured lawn beside the ivy-covered limestone facade. Terracotta pots held loose, field-style arrangements of foxtail lilies in pale peach, Mediterranean herbs, and white blooms that shaped the aisle without blocking the valley view. Carol and Richard exchanged vows under open sky before a dramatic dip kiss sent white petals scattering through the air as they recessed.
Couple Portraits

Stepan Vrzala led the couple from the garden terraces to a curved stone tower balcony overlooking the Luberon hills and the distant village of Gordes below. Carol trailed her lace-applique train across the cobblestone while Richard kept close in navy. The panoramic backdrop shifted between cypress-lined ridges and honey-coloured rooftops, giving each frame a different depth and scale.
Bridal Party

Six bridesmaids in floor-length sage gowns gathered on the clipped lawn in front of the ivy-draped chateau facade flanked by tall cypress trees. The group mixed candid laughter with posed symmetry while Carol held the centre in her lace sleeves and tulle skirt. A second round captured the full wedding party mid-jump, arms raised, against the same stone backdrop.
Cocktail Hour

A honey-toned wooden bar with a zinc countertop appeared on the lawn against the ivy-covered stone wall, stocked with champagne flutes and fresh greenery. Karen Gallego worked at an easel nearby, sketching the couple in pencil as guests mingled. The informal spread gave everyone room to drift between drinks, lawn games, and the live illustration station.
Reception

An aerial view revealed round and rectangular tables dressed in ivory linen set along the Provencal stone building with terracotta tile roofs. Carol and Richard poured Veuve Clicquot into a coupe tower before Darling Duo Acoustique opened the first set. Nuit Blanche DJ carried the party into the late hours while Laurent Rostaing Films captured the candlelit toasts and dancing from the garden perimeter.
Design and Details

Elles Floral Designer built ground-level compositions of white peonies, green hydrangeas, white allium, and Queen Anne lace that lined the ceremony lawn. Woven seagrass baskets held programmes at each row. A white distressed wooden easel displayed custom watercolour illustration cards clipped to horizontal twine. The design leaned toward Japanese restraint, using negative space and balanced proportions to let air and valley views do the work.
Flat Lays

Precieux Papiers produced a textured ivory invitation suite with letterpress detail, housed in a steel-blue envelope lined with a scenic landscape print. Two white deckle-edge vow booklets labelled His and Hers sat tied together with a dusty blue-grey silk ribbon alongside three wedding rings on a warm beige stone surface.
Venue

Airelles Gordes sits on a terraced hilltop above the Luberon valley, its 18th-century stone arcades and ivy walls framing views that stretch from cypress ridgelines to the village rooftops below. The rectangular lap pool, flanked by sun loungers and parasols, anchored the upper terrace while clipped hedges and gravel paths connected the ceremony lawn, cocktail garden, and dining courtyard. Stone corridors and arched doorways guided movement between each space.
