Cocktail Hour

A cocktail hour or reception gathering photographed from an elevated angle, showing approximately 25-30 guests mingling on a wide wooden deck surrounding a rectangular pool. The setting is the roofless interior courtyard of a large ruined stone and brick building with tall arched openings along the walls, open to the countryside beyond. Guests are dressed in smart-casual attire — men in white shirts and dark trousers, women in floral and printed summer dresses. No wedding party or couple is clearly identifiable in the crowd. The decor is minimal, with the architectural ruins and pool serving as the primary visual feature. The wide overhead shot captures the full scale of the courtyard and the social scene below. Potential venue feature image.
An outdoor wedding cocktail hour or reception gathering on a lawn, with a group of approximately six guests seated casually on hay bales around a small low table, with additional guests visible in the background seated in chairs near a rustic wooden structure. The decor includes white and pink paper fan pompoms hung from tree branches, contributing to a relaxed, rustic-boho styling theme. Guests are dressed in summer attire including a white dress, floral prints, and light-colored suits with bow ties. The overall composition is a medium-wide candid shot capturing the informal, relaxed atmosphere of the outdoor celebration.
Two male musicians are performing live at what appears to be an outdoor cocktail hour or reception, seated on a wooden deck terrace with an exposed brick wall visible in the background. Both men are playing acoustic guitars; the musician in the foreground wears a red shirt and a dark grey fedora hat and is singing into a microphone, while the second musician in the background wears a white shirt and smiles. The setting appears to be an outdoor terrace of a venue with warm, natural daytime lighting. The shot is a medium close-up taken from a slightly low angle, capturing both performers in the same frame.

The outdoor cocktail hour unfolded on the lawn of the pink-rendered estate, where roughly thirty guests gathered with champagne glasses in hand. Conversation drifted among the property's tree-lined paths as the afternoon light softened. The relaxed pace gave guests time to explore the grounds before dinner was called.

Reception

The bride and groom stand together at a dessert table during what appears to be an indoor evening reception, each holding a champagne flute. The bride wears a white lace long-sleeve dress with a hair accessory, and the groom is dressed in a white shirt with a navy blue tie. On the table is a croquembouche — a tower of cream puffs — alongside a separate round cake on a stand and a bottle of champagne. A female guest in the foreground photographs the moment on a smartphone, and two additional guests are visible in the background. The venue features exposed wooden beams and warm string lights overhead, giving the space a rustic barn-style atmosphere. The shot is taken from a slightly elevated angle, capturing the full scene in a wide candid style.
A newlywed couple walks through a confetti exit line outdoors on a dry dirt path, with approximately 25-30 guests lined up on either side throwing confetti. The bride wears a tea-length ivory dress with lace three-quarter sleeves and pink heeled shoes, while the groom wears a charcoal grey suit with a buttonhole. The bride carries or has passed off a bouquet featuring purple and blue flowers. Guests are dressed in summery attire including floral prints, bright colors, and occasion wear with fascinators. The scene has a relaxed, vintage-inspired feel with natural afternoon light. Wide shot capturing the full confetti exit moment.
An outdoor bridal party portrait taken in an open countryside setting, with harvested fields and a distant village visible in the background. Three couples are dancing together in a line on a grassy hillside, each pair performing a twirl or spin move. The bride wears a white tea-length dress, while two bridesmaids wear matching cornflower blue tea-length wrap-style dresses with short sleeves, carrying small purple bouquets. The groomsmen and male partners wear dark grey suits. The retro 1950s-inspired styling is reinforced by the tea-length silhouettes and the playful dance poses. Wide shot with a soft, slightly hazy light giving the image a muted, faded tone.
Close-up detail shot of a wedding reception table centerpiece with a rustic styling theme. The centerpiece features a mason jar holding a mixed bouquet of purple anemones, lavender hydrangeas, pink carnations, and violet lisianthus, tied with a purple and pink ribbon, arranged on a raw wood slice. Two ivory pillar candles of varying heights sit alongside the floral arrangement on the same wood slice. A neutral burlap table runner runs the length of the long reception table, which is set with wine glasses containing rosé, additional glassware, and repeated floral and candle arrangements visible in the soft-focus background.

Four women posed at an outdoor photo booth during the evening celebrations, while the garden reception kept the party flowing beneath festoon lights. Long communal tables were dressed with lavender sprigs and rustic place cards. The evening shifted between toasts, laughter, and impromptu dancing on the terrace as the Pyrenean sky darkened.

Flat Lays

A raw wood slice centerpiece holds a white pillar candle in the background, alongside wine glasses and a water glass. The decor palette combines natural wood, white linen, and purple lavender accents, consistent with a rustic or Provençal styling theme.
A close-up detail shot of rustic outdoor wedding signage placed on a lawn. Two wooden signs hang from a black shepherd's hook stake — the top sign reads 'Wedding' in white script lettering, and the lower sign displays a white arrow pointing right to direct guests. Beside the stake sits a stacked arrangement of wooden crates used as planters, filled with white, pink, and lavender wildflower-style blooms with green foliage. The overall styling is rustic and bohemian, using natural wood tones and informal flower arrangements as decorative wayfinding elements.
Wide shot of a rustic outdoor wedding venue setup in a rural French setting. The structure is a low, open-sided wooden barn or agricultural building with a thatched or timber roof, partially obscured by a large cedar tree in the foreground. Hay bales are arranged along the front of the building as seating or decorative elements, and bistro-style chairs and small tables are visible to the right side. One or two people can be seen near the entrance, appearing to be setting up. The styling is rustic and informal, consistent with a countryside barn wedding aesthetic. Potential venue feature image.
Close-up detail shot of two bridesmaids holding bouquets, with the image cropped to show their torsos and hands. Both bridesmaids are wearing cornflower blue V-neck draped dresses. The bouquets feature purple hydrangeas, blue globe thistles, pink carnations, lavender allium, and small white lisianthus buds, creating a blue-purple and pink color palette. The soft, slightly hazy lighting gives the image a pastel, light-toned quality.

Close-up detail shots featured a rustic table setting with fresh lavender sprigs and a handwritten place card on recycled paper. The stationery suite, floral buttonholes, and table accessories carried the day's natural, understated palette through every surface, tying the celebration's details to the surrounding countryside.

More from the Day

A diptych of two wedding ceremony images with a vintage aesthetic. On the left, the bride is stepping out of a classic white Citroën 2CV or similar vintage French car, assisted by a man in a navy blue suit; she wears a 1950s-style tea-length white dress with lace three-quarter sleeves and a small hair accessory, paired with dark heels. On the right, the bride and her escort walk down the aisle of an ornate French Catholic church featuring large religious mural paintings, gothic vaulted ceilings, stained glass windows, wooden pews, and lit candles at the altar, with approximately 30–40 guests seated and standing on either side; the overall styling is retro-vintage with a 1950s bridal silhouette. Both images have a soft, slightly faded film-toned color treatment.
A wedding ceremony taking place inside a historic French Catholic church with vaulted stone ceilings, painted arches, and a large pipe organ visible at the rear of the nave. The bride is wearing a white gown and the groom a dark suit, standing at the altar before a priest in white vestments, with a large wooden crucifix prominent in the foreground right. Bridesmaids in cornflower blue dresses stand alongside the couple, and approximately 40-50 guests are seated and standing in wooden pews. The ceremony is lit by natural light filtering through high windows supplemented by candles near the altar, and a floral arrangement with red and pink flowers decorates the altar rail. Wide-angle shot taken from the side aisle capturing the full depth of the church interior.
Wide exterior shot of a large two-story open-air brick ruin structure with arched ground-floor openings and decorative diamond and arched window cutouts on the upper level, consistent with a historic or rustic venue setting. A small group of approximately five to eight people, appearing to be wedding guests or bridal party members, are gathered beneath the arches on the ground floor, with what looks like event setup items visible nearby. The image has a soft, slightly washed-out, warm-toned quality suggesting late afternoon or golden hour light. Potential venue feature image.
Two bridesmaids pose together outdoors on a paved terrace or plaza in front of a traditional French building with terracotta roof tiles and wooden shutters. Both women wear matching cornflower blue tea-length dresses with a 1950s-inspired full skirt silhouette and wide shoulder straps, paired with red peep-toe heels. Each holds a small round bouquet of mixed purple, lavender, and pink flowers including what appear to be asters and cornflowers. The portrait is a medium full-length shot taken in bright midday sunlight.
