Katie and James flew from Washington with only their mothers and Katie's sister in tow for an autumn elopement at Mas Le Gaudre in Saint-Remy-de-Provence. Planner Anais Ambrosi of Wed'Love Events, specialist destination wedding planners in Provence shaped every detail around one principle: nothing that was not essential. Marie Thibault photographed the day across intimate farmhouse wedding venues in sun-drenched Provence.

Officiant Pau Cardona led the vows beneath the cypress canopy while Guiem Soldevila played live acoustic guitar. Katie walked the gravel path in a long-sleeved crepe gown with a cathedral-length veil that caught the late September breeze. James waited in charcoal wool with an ivory pocket square. With only five guests present, every sound carried clearly across the still Provencal air.

In the last of the afternoon light, Marie Thibault walked Katie and James through the farmhouse grounds and into the cypress alley, cleared of ceremony arrangements and held in a quiet the earlier hour had not offered. The crepe of the gown caught the gold light like it had been designed for this exact hour. James tucked his hand into the small of Katie's back, and the camera simply waited.

Around the table in the stone-floored pool house, dinner became an actual dinner. Conversation wound from toast to toast, Sonorisation 83 providing a warm sound backdrop that never overpowered the room. Katie laughed so hard during the speeches she had to set down her wine glass. The cake from Toquadom, three tiers of smooth ivory buttercream with fresh flowers, anchored the far end of the table.

Florist Celine Braun anchored each cypress base with cascading arrangements of white pampas grass, ivory snapdragons, and pale blush hellebores. Inside the pool house, the reception table layered an antique white linen runner with pillar candles at varying heights, trailing ivory garden roses, blush ranunculus, and anemones with near-black centres. Matte white tableware from Maison Options caught the candlelight unevenly.

An aerial drone shot looking straight down over a French country estate, showing the property's grounds in full. The venue features a large rectangular lap pool with a pale blue-green tiled surround and white sun loungers arranged along its edges, positioned at the lower portion of the frame. Above the pool, a formal parterre garden is visible with geometric boxwood-edged beds, gravel pathways, and planted borders containing white flowering plants. A pergola structure connects to the main building, which has terracotta-tiled roofing typical of Provençal architecture with stone-colored rendered walls. Curving gravel driveways wind through the upper portion of the grounds. Two or three small figures in formal attire, including what appears to be a figure in white, are visible walking through the garden area near the parterre, suggesting a wedding is taking place on the property.
