Terracotta, Edison Bulbs, and Fireworks at Chateau de Varennes, Burgundy
Tracey and Romain's September wedding at Chateau de Varennes, Burgundy. Terracotta bridesmaids, allee dining, and a fireworks finale. Photos by Pablo Laguia.

Tracey and Romain gathered family from the USA and France for a September celebration where the landscape did the heavy lifting. Chateau de Varennes, a formal Burgundy estate with sweeping lawns and tree-lined allee provided the frame: pale stone shifting from chalk-white in full sun to soft grey-gold by late afternoon, with gravel paths, symmetrical hedging, and a stillness that only countryside this complete can offer. Getting Ready

Ivory light filtered through tall windows as Janya Make Up worked with warm nudes and blush-rose tones, nothing that would compete with the Burgundy countryside outside. Hair was pinned loosely while Annette Thornton Make Up Artiste attended to guests and Am. Coiffure handled hair, keeping the energy calm and unhurried. The dress, a structured crepe with a low open back and a skirt that moved without effort, hung ready.
Ceremony

Vows were exchanged on the lawn in front of the chateau's main facade, where Floresie had installed a ceremony arch in white and ivory garden roses, clematis, and trailing smilax against the stone backdrop. Gabriel from ABP Evenements played saxophone as the bridal party processed, the sound carrying across the open air. Romain's expression when Tracey appeared at the end of the allee was the kind of unguarded moment Pablo Laguia simply had the lens in the right place to capture.
Couple Portraits

Pablo Laguia brought Tracey and Romain away during blue hour, when the chateau's stone had darkened to pewter and the allee lights were the brightest thing in the frame. Against the pale stone facade and box-hedge parterres earlier in the afternoon, the structured crepe gown had photographed with quiet authority, Floresie's loosely gathered bouquet of garden roses, white ranunculus, and saponaria softening the formality. The blue-hour portraits carry a particular quality, the noise of the party just audible behind them.
Bridal Party

Bridesmaids wore deep terracotta, a warm earthy shade that read beautifully against the chateau's stone and the season's first amber foliage. Bouquets echoed the bride's florals in richer tones: antique roses, dried grasses, and sprigs of rosemary that released herbal scent when held. Romain's groomsmen wore navy suits with ivory pocket squares, grounding the terracotta palette without fighting it. The group photographed against the allee with the ease of people comfortable in silence.
Reception

Dinner along the allee arrived as dusk fell and strings of Edison bulbs warmed to amber overhead. Chef George W. Ford leaned into Burgundy's larder with local mushrooms, wine-braised dishes, and a cheese course that required serious commitment. Garcons Chics moved through live music sets into DJ without a perceptible seam, and later, fireworks rose above the chateau roofline in gold and white against the Burgundy night sky.
Design and Details

Reception tables ran the length of the allee in warm ivory linen with clear glassware and silverware catching the last daylight. Floresie's centrepieces invited conversation across the table: blush garden roses, white cosmos, champagne-coloured dahlias, and bronze fennel. CMO Studio's stationery carried a warm champagne-gold script with burgundy wax seals, each place card propped against dried lavender. A Mon Joli Neon sign glowed warmly near the bar in amber light.
