Cafe-au-Lait Dahlias and Modern Fashion at Chateau Marcellus, Bordeaux

Diana and Sami's autumn wedding at Chateau Marcellus near Bordeaux: TATYANA KOCHNOVA gown, cafe-au-lait dahlias, and candlelit salons. Photos by Sasha Dove.

Diana and Sami's autumn celebration at this neoclassical wedding chateau an hour from Bordeaux began poolside and ended barefoot on warm stone, with every frame captured by Sasha Dove. Weds In May orchestrated a day that balanced fashion-forward confidence with 18th-century grandeur at one of Bordeaux's most striking chateau wedding venues in Nouvelle-Aquitaine.

Inside the 18th-century salons, Alena Novikova kept Diana's makeup clean: barely-there foundation, sculpted brow, warm nude lip, letting the gold-veined walls and dove-grey mouldings frame the autumn morning. Sami appeared in a loose black shirt with silver chains catching the light. Stylist Catherine Bonne had set the tone across both teams: nothing forced, everything deliberate, the scent of warm stone and white peony drifting through open shutters.

The TATYANA KOCHNOVA gown revealed itself in the grand salon, a structured column silhouette in ivory silk crepe that skimmed the floor without a whisper. Arina Boganova's cathedral-length veil, finished in a single satin trim, caught the draught from tall French windows and lifted just enough to photograph like movement itself. Wedery jewellery kept things spare: a delicate gold chain at the collarbone, nothing at the ears.

In the colonnaded courtyard, autumn afternoon light fell in long gold bars across limestone flags as Diana and Sami moved through it without direction, laughing at something just off-frame. Sasha Dove found the precise moments where boldness becomes intimacy: a glance held a beat too long, a hand pressed to a lapel. Kate from Fine Stems florals appeared in the background as soft dahlia accents in burnt amber and champagne.

Long tables ran the length of the grand salon as the evening shifted from gold to candlelight, overhead chandeliers dimmed and replaced by a hundred tapers set along ecru linen. Daria Kuznetsova captured the moment the music changed: a guest laughing mid-sentence, Diana reaching across the table. The cake was cut early because they wanted to dance. By ten the pool terrace had taken over, bare feet on warm stone, the Gironde countryside invisible beyond the lights.

Design and Details

Madeleines and Macarons delivered a three-tier cake in matte ivory decorated only with pressed dried flowers in ochre and dusty blush. Table linens ran in warm ecru, and Kate from Fine Stems built low centrepieces of cafe-au-lait dahlias, antique ivory lisianthus, and single stems of golden rod that caught the candlelight. Weds In May mapped the styling so every surface told the same quiet story: gold, cream, and warmth.

Exterior of

Chateau Marcellus sits an hour from Bordeaux in the green heart of Nouvelle-Aquitaine, its neoclassical bones defined by columned facades, double-height salons, and a pool terrace facing open countryside. In autumn the evening light turns everything amber by seven, and the stone walls take on the colour of old honey. It works for modern couples because it does not demand a traditional wedding.
