Michelle and Casey's wedding unfolded at Manoir de Gerville, a pale stone estate among fields and hedgerows five kilometres from the Normandy coast. Guests arrived along tree-lined lanes to find clipped lawns and a relaxed celebration shaped by pastel meadow florals and silk bridal fashion, all captured by Frances Mary Sales, a destination wedding photographer featured on French Wedding Style. The setting offered ceremony lawns, garden paths, and candlelit dining rooms within one charming Normandy estate surrounded by rolling countryside.

Getting Ready

A getting-ready scene shot indoors, likely in a château bedroom or suite, with the bride standing at a large multi-pane wooden-framed window with slate blue curtains on either side. The bride is wearing a strapless white gown with a long cathedral-length train and has her hair up in a loose bun. Three bridesmaids in sage green satin dresses are assisting her: one kneels behind the bride fastening the back of the dress, another crouches to her right also helping with the buttons or lacing, and a third leans in from the left to arrange the train on the floor. The room features warm-toned walls, a cast-iron radiator, a patterned rug, and dark wood furniture. The shot is a medium-wide portrait taken from behind, with natural window light illuminating the scene. © Frances Mary Sales
A getting-ready detail shot taken indoors in what appears to be a château bedroom or suite. An ivory strapless wedding gown with a sweetheart neckline, fitted silhouette, and a dramatic draped train is hung from a hanger in front of a tall arched window with warm honey-toned wooden frames. A pair of white satin heeled shoes with bow detailing is placed on the floor directly beneath the dress. The room features dark teal velvet floor-length curtains, an exposed wooden ceiling beam, a small framed painting on the wall, a dark-shaded table lamp on a wooden side table, a cast-iron radiator beneath the window, and a patterned rug on the floor. The natural backlight from the window silhouettes the dress against the bright exterior. Wide portrait composition. © Frances Mary Sales

Morning light poured through the manor's tall windows as Michelle prepared in one of its upper rooms. The silk of the Jane Hill Huntleigh gown, ordered through The Bridal Studio Utah, caught the pale sun and held it, the fabric's weight giving the dress a presence even on the hanger. A quiet hand on a shoulder, a last look in the mirror, then the small held breath before everything began.

A single cello note opened Ed Sheeran's Perfect and told every guest it was time. Michelle walked toward Casey through an aisle lined with low pastel meadow arrangements by The Painted Bouquet: white cosmos, blush ranunculus, and pale mauve sweet peas, all loose and unstructured. Casey stood in his black Bonobos suit and bow tie, and the expression in these photographs needs no caption.

A close-up portrait of a bride outdoors on a gravel path, photographed from the chin down with a red-brick château building softly blurred in the background. She wears a strapless ivory fitted gown, long white satin gloves, and a cathedral-length veil. She holds a loose, garden-style bridal bouquet composed of blush and peach garden roses, a large café au lait dahlia, a white dahlia, coral peonies, blue delphinium, lavender clematis, cream stock flowers, white calla lilies, and trailing feathery green foliage, tied with a long trailing white silk ribbon. The bouquet palette combines soft peach, blush, ivory, cornflower blue, and lilac tones in an unstructured, botanical arrangement. The composition is a medium close-up focused on the bouquet and torso. © Frances Mary Sales

Alone in the gardens before the ceremony, Michelle moved between the clipped hedgerows and gravel paths in the Huntleigh gown with an ease that matched the setting entirely. The silk skimmed the ground, picking up traces of morning dew along its hem. Frances Mary Sales found angles that made the manor's geometry work with the dress rather than against it, archways, straight lawn edges, the long shadow of a stone wall.

Michelle and Casey's couple portraits happened in the golden window between cocktail hour and dinner. Frances Mary Sales worked the gravel paths and garden rooms, finding moments rather than manufacturing them. The pair moved through the grounds with the ease of two people who had stopped noticing the camera. One photograph, Casey laughing, Michelle mid-turn, the manor just visible at the edge of the frame, is the whole day in a single image.

A black-and-white image of a couple sharing their first dance in an indoor reception room. The bride wears a short, voluminous mini dress with a low open back, bow shoulder detail, and embroidered or textured skirt, paired with heeled sandals with bow ankle ties and her hair in an updo; the groom is dressed in a white dress shirt and dark trousers. The room features exposed wooden ceiling beams, white panelled walls with painted decorative motifs, and wide-plank hardwood flooring, consistent with a French château or manor interior. Several guests are visible seated along the walls in the background, watching the dance, with a lamp and side table visible to the right. The image is shot from a medium-wide angle, capturing both the couple's full figures and the surrounding environment, with strong contrast between highlights and deep shadows. © Frances Mary Sales

Dinner moved indoors to the manor's main dining room, where Dine Indulge's service was smooth and unhurried and the candlelight made the pale stone walls glow a deep amber. Long tables ran the length of the room with low floral arrangements keeping every guest in sight of every other guest. Speeches drew laughter and a few tears, and afterward the couple took their first dance in country swing while guests spread across the lawns with glasses in hand.

The design language held steady from ceremony to reception: pale linens in oat and soft white, low table arrangements in the same meadow palette as the aisle, blush ranunculus, white anemone, and touches of sage foliage. The Painted Bouquet's work throughout was restrained in the best sense, floral choices that felt grown rather than arranged. Casey's Allen Edmonds shoes in warm chestnut sat alongside the ivory silk of the Huntleigh gown in the detail shots, nothing competing, everything belonging.

More from the Day

The bride and groom are toasting with champagne glasses outdoors, likely during a cocktail hour, set against the grounds of a red brick manor or château visible on the left. The groom wears a black tuxedo with a white dress shirt, while the bride wears a fitted ivory strapless satin gown with a sweetheart neckline, long white opera gloves, drop earrings, and a sheer veil with her hair pulled back. The styling is classic and formal, with a black-and-white color pairing accented by the white gloves. Additional champagne glasses are visible on a round wooden cocktail table in the foreground. A gravel driveway flanked by a symmetrical row of conical topiary shrubs leads directly to the entrance, creating a formal approach. The grounds include manicured lawn and mature trees framing the façade on both sides. No people are visible in the image. Potential venue feature image. © Frances Mary Sales
