Dana Harel Lace and Sky-Blue Florals at Chateau Gassies, Bordeaux

Kaitlyn and Eric married at Chateau Gassies near Bordeaux with Dana Harel lace, pale blue florals, and a string trio ceremony. 58 photos by Still…

Kaitlyn and Eric crossed the Atlantic from California to gather over a hundred guests at a historic Bordeaux chateau with sweeping Garonne valley views for a celebration wrapped in pale sky-blue, ivory, and candlelight. Samkoma World orchestrated the day, from a Dana Harel lace gown and string trio ceremony to a chandelier-lit reception in the vineyard estates and rolling countryside of Nouvelle-Aquitaine.

Eric's father officiated, which shifted the whole ceremony from ceremonial to intimate. Ensemble Obbligato played a live rendition of the couple's first-dance song as Kaitlyn walked the aisle in her Dana Harel gown with lace and scalloped detail. Greenery framed the arch and pale blue ribbon threaded through the chair-end arrangements. The vows were personal, unhurried, and occasionally funny. When applause finally broke out, it was the warm, full-throated kind.

Still Miracle took the couple outside during the blue hour, when the last light sat just above the Garonne and the chateau glowed warm against the darkening sky. Kaitlyn had changed into a simpler silk slip, the Dana Harel lace gown safely upstairs, and Eric had loosened his tie. They looked like themselves, easy and close, lit by a Bordeaux evening that had no intention of rushing.

Bridesmaids wore powder-blue crepe midi dresses from Show Me Your Mumu, a shade close to French cornflower that sat warmly against the stone and greenery. Groomsmen were sharp in charcoal Black Tux suits with ivory pocket squares echoing the floral palette. The group gathered on the lawn and the dynamic shifted from formal to easy almost immediately. Someone's heel caught in the gravel, and the resulting candid became one of the day's favourite frames.

DJ James Carr built from dinner conversation into a dancefloor that did not empty until well past midnight. The timbered ceiling of the chateau's main hall amplified the bass, while les 5 sens Bordeaux served Riviera-influenced courses and Le Rialto's food truck offered late-night bites near the garden wall. The cake from Supa Dupa Mama was three tiers of white with brushed gold detail and fresh florals. The Garonne valley twinkled through the windows.

Florist Maite Mach worked in ivory, soft sage, and dusty blue, with white garden roses, ranunculus, and trailing amaranthus forming centrepieces in vessels sourced through Be Lounge and Maison Options. Tables were dressed in ivory linen with natural-edge charger plates and hand-lettered place cards from Kate Wiseman Creative. The overall palette held its own and contributed to the whole, the mark of a planner who understood restraint.

Stationery by Kate Wiseman Creative set the visual tone early, clean script on thick card stock with pale blue ribbon threaded through the suite. Kaitlyn's Dana Harel accessories lay alongside her bridal bouquet assembled by Maite Mach. Madeleine's Macarons contributed a tower of powder-blue and ivory shells that appeared in nearly every styling frame.

Chateau Gassies wears its age in limestone facades catching the low light, timbered ceilings visible through tall windows, and a sweeping lawn that functions like a natural amphitheatre facing the Bordeaux skyline. Staff moved quietly, adjusting shade and topping up water as arrivals filtered through the gates. The architecture guided movement from gravel entrance toward the ceremony garden and into the chandelier-lit interiors.
