A 3-Day Destination Wedding at Chateau les Carrasses, Languedoc

Nellie and Tom's three-day destination wedding at Chateau les Carrasses: vineyard vows, Mediterranean barbecue, and poolside brunch in Languedoc.

By Elena Moretti | Published 24 February 2023

Nellie and Tom chose Chateau les Carrasses, a 19th-century wine domaine in the Languedoc, for a three-day destination wedding among the vineyards of Occitanie in the South of France. From a welcome barbecue to poolside brunch, their celebration proved that the best weddings unfold at their own relaxed pace.

Couple Portraits

A couple portrait taken outdoors on the grounds of a white chateau-style venue, with the grand multi-story building visible in the soft-focus background alongside cypress trees and palm trees. The bride wears an off-the-shoulder ivory gown with long billowy sleeves and a sweetheart neckline, accessorized with statement drop earrings, and carries a small white clutch; the groom holds a bouquet of white peonies or ranunculus and wears a black tuxedo with bow tie and a white floral boutonnière. The couple walks together across a lawn, laughing and looking at each other, in a candid mid-shot composition. The overall styling is modern and polished with a monochromatic ivory and black palette.
A couple walks hand-in-hand across a manicured lawn toward a large French chateau with limestone architecture, pointed turrets, and slate-grey roofing. The bride wears an off-the-shoulder white gown with long sleeves and a dramatic cathedral-length veil that trails behind her across the grass; she carries a small bouquet with cream and blush tones. The groom wears a dark navy or black suit. The shot is taken from behind at a medium-wide distance, with the chateau centered in the background framed by cypress trees and palm trees. Potential venue feature image.
A couple portrait taken outdoors on a gravel path lined with hedges and mature trees, with a stone chateau building visible in the background. The bride wears a fitted ivory off-the-shoulder gown with delicate beading or pleating detail and flowing off-the-shoulder long sleeves, carrying a small white bouquet at her side, while the groom wears a black tuxedo with bow tie, white dress shirt, and a white boutonniere. The two are walking hand-in-hand toward the camera, smiling at each other. The image is a medium full-length shot with warm, soft natural light and a classic-meets-romantic styling aesthetic.
A couple portrait taken outdoors along a dirt path running beside a vineyard. The bride wears an off-the-shoulder ivory gown with a flowing, textured skirt and detached sleeves, and is laughing while holding the groom's hand. The groom wears a black tuxedo with a white dress shirt, black bow tie, and black dress shoes, and carries a bouquet of white peonies with white ribbon trailing from his hand. Both are walking toward the camera in a relaxed, candid moment. The overall styling is classic with a relaxed, natural edge. Wide shot with warm, muted tones consistent with late afternoon natural light.

Nellie and Tom slipped away from their guests as the sun dropped low over the Languedoc vineyards, walking between the rows of vines with the warm light catching the stone walls of the domaine behind them. Rita and Clem kept things relaxed, capturing quiet glances and easy laughter rather than posed portraits. The result was a handful of images that felt as natural as the couple themselves.

More from the Day

A bridal portrait taken indoors, showing the bride from approximately the waist up against a white panelled wall interior. The bride wears an off-the-shoulder white pleated tulle gown with detached billowing long sleeves and a sweetheart neckline with ruffled trim. She holds a compact, tightly arranged bouquet of white peonies and roses. Her accessories include dangling multi-pearl drop earrings, and her blonde hair is styled in loose waves. The composition is a close-up portrait shot with soft, natural indoor lighting.
A bride is being helped down exterior stone steps at a French chateau, with two guests assisting her — a woman in a dark floral print dress steadying her from the front and a man in a dark suit behind her. The bride wears an off-the-shoulder white fitted gown with feather or tulle sleeve details and a long flowing veil that trails behind her; she holds a white bouquet with ribbon ties. A third person in an orange top is visible on the steps near the entrance. The chateau facade features pale rendered walls, blue-grey shuttered windows, and a pointed Gothic-arch ironwork doorway with a sign reading 'Piscine,' with an interior room partially visible through the open door. The shot is a wide environmental portrait taken from ground level, framing the figures against the chateau exterior. Potential venue feature image.
A wide exterior shot looking up at a French chateau featuring cream-colored limestone architecture with dark slate-tiled roofs, a pointed turret, multiple chimneys, and dormer windows across three stories. The building's classical French château style is clearly visible with its symmetrical facades and ornate stonework detailing around the window frames. A white sail shade canopy and what appears to be an outdoor terrace structure are partially visible at the lower right, suggesting an event or hospitality setup. No people are present in the frame. Potential venue feature image.
A wide-shot exterior view of an outdoor pool terrace at what appears to be a vineyard estate or domaine. The infinity pool is lined with closed cream-white parasols and dark grey sun loungers arranged symmetrically on a pale stone surround. No people are visible in the shot. The terrace overlooks an expansive vineyard with rows of vines stretching into the distance, flanked by a cypress-lined driveway. The overall palette is muted — cream, grey, and muted greens — giving the scene a quiet, off-season feel under an overcast sky. Potential venue feature image.
