A Vineyard-Inspired Editorial at Chateau Gassies, Bordeaux

A vineyard-inspired editorial at Chateau Gassies near Bordeaux, styled by Dentelle Events with wildflower arrangements and a sunset terrace reception.

By Sophie Laurent | Published 31 July 2023

This editorial at Chateau Gassies, a wedding chateau with exceptional views overlooking the Garonne River, celebrated the sophistication of one of Nouvelle-Aquitaine's most admired wedding estates. Directed by Dentelle Events and captured by Still Miracle, the concept drew its palette from Bordeaux's vineyards, with wildflowers, lavender tones, and a sunset dinner on the terrace.

Ceremony

An outdoor ceremony setup on the grounds of a French stone manor, with gold-framed Louis XVI-style chairs with cream upholstery arranged in rows along a gravel aisle. The aisle is lined with large, lush arrangements of white, lavender, blue, and deep purple hydrangeas mixed with greenery, creating a garden-style floral border on both sides. The composition is a medium wide shot taken from ground level at the aisle's edge, with the chairs and floral installations in focus and the manor building softly blurred in the background. The overall decor palette is classic French with a soft purple and white color scheme. Potential venue feature image.
A couple stands together at the altar during an outdoor ceremony set on the formal grounds of a French château, facing each other as the groom holds the bride's hand. The bride wears a white ball gown with a long cathedral veil, and the groom is dressed in a black tuxedo with a bow tie. The ceremony setup features gold Louis XVI-style chairs arranged in rows along a gravel aisle, flanked by large ground-level floral arrangements of white, lavender, and deep purple hydrangeas with lush greenery. A dramatic floral backdrop of the same purple and white hydrangeas frames the couple at the altar. The wide shot is composed symmetrically, with the stone façade of the château centered in the background, flanked by tall Italian cypress trees on both sides. The overall decor palette is purple, white, and gold with a classic French formal garden style. Potential venue feature image.
Close-up detail shot of the ring exchange moment during an outdoor ceremony, with two sets of hands holding a white deckle-edged paper card or vow booklet tied with a sheer white ribbon, and two velvet ring boxes — one lavender and one sage green — each holding a delicate gold wedding band. The background is filled with blurred blue, lavender, and purple hydrangea blooms, creating a soft, color-coordinated backdrop that echoes the tones of the ring boxes. The styling reflects a romantic, garden-inspired aesthetic with a cohesive cool-toned color palette.
The bride and groom stand facing each other on a gravel path reading their personal vows during an outdoor ceremony. The groom wears a black tuxedo with a black bow tie, while the bride wears a white strapless ball gown with a full skirt and a long cathedral-length veil with a large bow detail at the back. They each hold small handwritten vow booklets. The backdrop is a lush floral installation featuring purple, lavender, mauve, and white hydrangeas interspersed with greenery, surrounding the couple on both sides. The setting appears to be the grounds of a French chateau or estate, with stone building rooftops and vine foliage visible in the background. This is a medium full-length portrait shot with soft, diffused natural light.

The ceremony area overlooking the Garonne River was framed by wildflowers, grapevines, and soft lavender tones that drew directly from the surrounding Bordeaux vineyards. Garlands and deep plum accents brought abundance to the scene, while the floral arrangements connected the chateau's historic interiors with the open-air setting. Dentelle Events directed every transition with a natural, elevated touch.

Bridal Portraits

A close-up detail shot of a wedding reception table setting, specifically the bride's place setting. The place setting features white scallop-edged china with a blue toile floral pattern on the charger plate, layered with a plain white dinner plate, and a grey linen napkin. Gold flatware with grey handles is arranged to the left of the plates. A small individual bread roll sits on a separate white scallop-edged side plate, topped with a pale grey oval calligraphy place card reading 'Bride' and a small white floral accent. A small white votive candle sits nearby, and a gold table lamp with a ribbed white scalloped shade is partially visible above. The table linen is a muted sage or dusty blue-grey. Soft-focus florals in the background include pink garden roses, lavender hydrangeas, and lilac sweet peas in a lush centerpiece arrangement. The overall decor palette combines dusty blue-grey, gold, and soft pink and lavender tones in a classic French-inspired style.
A bridal portrait taken outdoors on a gravel path alongside a stone chateau building with terracotta roof tiles. The bride stands alone, turned slightly toward the camera with a gentle expression, wearing a strapless white ball gown with a full skirt and trailing train, and holding a compact white bouquet. A tall, narrow cypress tree rises prominently in the foreground, framing the composition, while lavender plantings and white flowering shrubs border the path. The shot is a wide environmental portrait that places the bride as a mid-ground subject, emphasizing the formal garden setting and chateau architecture around her.
A bride is seated in the back of a vintage pale blue car with burgundy leather interior, leaning slightly toward the open window and smiling at the camera. She wears a white gown with a tulle veil, her dark hair styled in a sleek updo, and small gold drop earrings. She holds a rounded bouquet of white hydrangeas, white sweet peas, and green foliage. The shot is a close-up portrait framed by the car door and window, with a softly blurred architectural background featuring white columns.

The bride posed in her Alberto Palatchi princess-cut gown with gemstone details, the chateau's stone walls and crystal chandeliers forming a regal backdrop. Still Miracle captured the interplay of couture and architecture, with the Garonne River views adding depth to each frame. Later, the shift to an Atelier Pronovias halter dress marked the transition from ceremony to evening.

Couple Portraits

This is a black-and-white couple portrait taken through the open windows of a vintage classic car, with the bride and groom seated in the back seat sharing an intimate moment — foreheads nearly touching, the bride's hand gently cupping the groom's face. The bride wears a white gown with a layered tulle veil, while the groom is dressed in a dark suit with a bow tie and a boutonniere on his lapel. The shot is framed by the car's chrome window trim and roof, with soft bokeh in the background suggesting a tree-lined outdoor setting. The image uses high-key tones with soft contrast, giving it an airy, light quality.
This black-and-white outdoor couple portrait shows a bride and groom standing face-to-face on a lawn, clinking coupe-style champagne glasses and looking at each other closely. The bride wears a halter-neck gown with a flowing, pleated skirt and a cape or train element that drapes behind her, paired with statement drop earrings and loose wavy hair. The groom is dressed in a dark pinstripe double-breasted suit with a tie. The image is lit with strong backlighting that creates bright, blown-out highlights and soft mid-tones, giving the scene a high-contrast, editorial feel. The composition is a full-length portrait shot taken at ground level with the landscape softly out of focus in the background.
A couple portrait taken outdoors on gravel grounds beside a vintage silver Citroën DS with red interior cushions visible through the rear window. The bride wears a strapless white ballgown with a long cathedral-length veil, while the groom is dressed in a navy tuxedo with a black bow tie and a white boutonnière. The two are leaning against the front of the car, facing each other closely. The setting features the stone facade of a French chateau or estate visible on the right edge of the frame, with well-maintained grounds and landscaping in the background. The composition is a wide portrait shot taken in warm afternoon light.
This is a black-and-white close-up portrait of a bride and groom sharing a kiss during what appears to be a couples portrait session outdoors, with softly blurred architectural elements visible in the background. The bride wears a strapless structured gown with horizontal banded detailing at the bodice, a cathedral-length veil, and small stud earrings, with her dark hair pulled back in a sleek updo. The groom is dressed in a dark suit jacket and has short dark hair with light stubble. The image is shot with a shallow depth of field, placing sharp focus on the couple's faces and upper bodies, with bright highlights and soft mid-tones giving the composition a high-contrast, polished feel.

Across the chateau's terraces and grounds, the couple moved through a series of portraits that balanced editorial precision with genuine warmth. The groom's transition from black tuxedo to blue double-breasted Blandin Delloye suit brought a fresh energy to the evening frames. Their exit in a vintage Citroen DS limousine, winding through vineyard roads at dusk, gave the session its most cinematic moment.

Reception

Close-up detail shot of an outdoor wedding reception place setting on a pale grey linen tablecloth. The place setting features a white scallop-edged charger plate with a blue decorative border pattern, topped with a round printed menu card, and a folded grey linen napkin; gold and white-handled flatware is arranged on either side. A small glass and gold table lamp with a ribbed pleated shade serves as an individual place accent, accompanied by a small votive candle. The floral runner consists of pink garden roses, mauve and periwinkle hydrangeas, pale blue sweet peas, and greenery in a pastel, garden-style palette. Crystal pressed-glass goblets in multiple sizes are placed to the right, and a small favor — a wrapped jar tied with white ribbon and a calligraphy tag — sits to the left. A gold Louis-style chair is visible in the background. The overall styling is romantic and French-inspired with a pastel pink, lavender, and blue color palette, gold accents, and vintage-style tableware.

The long rectangular table is dressed with an ivory linen tablecloth that pools slightly on the ground, and is lined on both sides with gold-framed Louis XVI oval-back chairs with cream upholstered seats and backs, seating approximately 12 guests. The centerpiece runs the length of the table and features clusters of pink and mauve roses, lavender, and soft purple blooms with greenery, accompanied by glassware including tinted pink goblets and crystal stemware, along with white ceramic place settings. The overall decor palette is soft ivory, gold, and pastel pink and purple, reflecting a classic French romantic styling. Wide shot taken from a slight elevation, with no people present.

The place setting layers a white scallop-edged charger plate, a white dinner plate with a delicate teal blue floral border pattern, and a circular grey menu card with white calligraphy script listing starter, main course, side dish, and dessert courses. Cutlery is gold with white handles, including two forks on the left and a knife and spoon on the right. A taupe linen napkin is folded beneath the menu card, and a small white votive candle sits nearby. The centerpiece arrangement, partially visible in the upper portion of the frame, features a lush mix of hot pink peonies, lavender sweet peas, purple allium, magenta stocks, and trailing greenery in a pink and purple palette. A clear glass tumbler and gold-toned serving spoon are visible at the upper right. The overall table decor palette combines sage green, soft grey, white, and gold with the vivid floral colors as a contrast.
An outdoor wedding reception table is set on a gravel terrace directly in front of a classic French chateau with cream limestone facade and white shuttered windows. The long rectangular table is dressed in a sage green linen tablecloth and lined with natural wood Louis XVI-style oval-back chairs with upholstered seats. A lush floral runner composed of white peonies, cream blooms, allium, and trailing greenery cascades from the near end of the table, while mauve, lilac, and blush florals continue along the center. Small crystal table lamps serve as candlelight accents down the length of the table, accompanied by glassware and place settings. The decor palette combines sage, muted mauve, and natural wood in a classic French style. Wide shot taken at dusk with soft, even light. Potential venue feature image.

Dinner on the terrace offered a panoramic view over Bordeaux as the sun set behind the vineyards. Violet and pink blooms mixed with greenery along the table in lively, organic compositions that glowed under golden light. Timber beams and crystal chandeliers inside the chateau provided the evening's second act, where candlelight and stone walls created an atmosphere of quiet grandeur.

Venue

An outdoor wedding ceremony setup on a lawn in front of a large French limestone building with arched windows and a tiled roof, consistent with a chateau or domaine property. Two curved rows of gold Louis XVI-style chairs with cream upholstery are arranged in a semicircle, facing an open central aisle. The floral decor features abundant clusters of purple, lilac, and white hydrangeas arranged at ground level along the chair rows and at the ends of each row, creating a lush floral border. Tall cypress trees flank the building facade, and a vineyard is visible in the background. The wide-angle shot captures the full ceremony layout with no guests or couple present, indicating this is a pre-ceremony setup image. Potential venue feature image.

This image shows no people or wedding activity — it is a wide shot of a large, mature cedar tree (likely a Cedar of Lebanon) standing on manicured lawn grounds. The tree features a wide, multi-trunked structure with tiered, layered branches of deep and light green foliage. A small stone or concrete circular base is visible at the base of the trunk. The setting appears to be the landscaped grounds of an estate or chateau. No wedding-specific decor, attire, or subjects are visible in the frame. Potential venue feature image.

Chateau Gassies revealed its character in layers, from stone walls and timber beams to the panoramic terrace overlooking the Garonne River. Crystal chandeliers caught the light inside the grand reception rooms, while outside, the vineyard landscape stretched toward Bordeaux. The balance of indoor grandeur and open-air setting made each space feel distinct yet connected.
